Conducting radiation safety training exercises

● Ensuring preparedness for medical response to radiological and nuclear emergencies.● Studying and assessing the effects of radiation and non-radiation factors associated with the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, as well as other sources of ionizing radiation affecting human health, and developing evidence-based methods for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.● Providing scientific support for medical and radiation protection measures aimed at safeguarding public health from the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster and other accidental, technological, and natural sources of ionizing radiation.● Contributing to the development and implementation of national policies and long-term strategies for overcoming the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster.● Investigating the molecular, biological, and genetic mechanisms underlying radiation-induced diseases, including non-malignant disorders, hematologic malignancies, and other cancers; studying their clinical manifestations, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment following exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation across different stages of life and successive generations.● Conducting epidemiological research on non-malignant diseases and cancer among populations affected by the Chornobyl accident.● Performing radiation dosimetry, dose reconstruction and refinement, radiological monitoring of contaminated territories, and dosimetric certification of settlements throughout Ukraine.● Conducting medical expert evaluations to establish causal relationships between diseases, permanent disability, causes of death, and exposure to ionizing radiation.● Developing medical status criteria and occupational health standards for work involving hazardous exposure to ionizing radiation.● Developing innovative technologies for the preservation and long-term storage of blood components and hematopoietic tissues; advancing infusion and transfusion therapies; investigating the pathogenesis of burn disease and developing novel treatment approaches for burns and their complications.● Providing comprehensive clinical, psychological, and psychiatric care for members of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, individuals affected by occupation, and internally displaced persons.● Promoting international scientific cooperation in radiation medicine and collaborative research addressing the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster and other major nuclear accidents worldwide.
