The annual IX Scientific-Practical Conference With International Participation “Prospects for Diagnosis and Treatment of Hematologic Diseases”, organized by NRCRM, was held in Kyiv, April 18-19, 2019.

Among the 167 registered participants, were well-known European experts: prof. Giuseppe Saglio (Italy), Prof. Ticiano Barbui (Italy), Prof. Sandra Lejnice (Latvia), prof. Thomas Lion (Austria), Prof. Chingiz Asadov (Azerbaijan), leading Ukrainian specialists from NRCRM and specialized institutes of National Academy of Medical Sciences, delegates from Lithuania, Georgia, Kazakhstan, as well as haematologists from the regions of Ukraine

The meeting was opened by the report of the Director General of NRCRM, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Bazyka D.A. dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Chornobyl NPP accident “The Role of Ionizing Radiation in the Development of Hematology and Cancer Diseases in the Remote Period.”

The strategy of diagnosis, treatment and tactics of complications in patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) from therapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) was the subject of discussion of the first section of the conference. D. Saglio highlighted the current state of CML treatment in Europe and the United States and separately focused on the challenges faced by hematologists in 2019

I. Dyagil reported on indications for the 2nd line therapy in patients with CML.

About Ph-negative myeloproliferative diseases, diagnostics and treatment, directions in 2019 reported T.Barbui.

L. Poluben’ made a report on her own research in a group of irradiated patients with chronic myeloproliferative diseases

T. Lion’s report on the role of mutations in the development of resistance to TKI and I. Dmitrenko on the results of mutational analysis in the Ukrainian population of patients with CML induced a lively interest.

S. Lejnice made a report on the results of diagnosis and treatment of patients with CML in Latvia

In addition to key reports, several clinical cases were heard by N.Glushko, N.Lopina

A separate section was devoted to modern prospects of diagnostics and treatment of lymphoproliferative diseases, which was made by prof. I.Kryachok, S.Guseva, T.Perehrestenko, O.Karnabeda

For the first time, a section on unsolved issues in hematology was initiated: a tactic for the management of hematologic patients with pneumonia, hepatitis, pregnancy in the treatment of TKI, and so on.

On the second day of the conference, reports were devoted to the diagnostics and treatment of MDS and cytopenic conditions. Prof. S. Klymenko reported on new recommendations for the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Prof. Ch.Asadov highlighted the issue of diagnosis and treatment of thalassemia in Azerbaijan

Number of reports were devoted to myelodysplastic syndrome and aplastic anemia, so O.Mischenyuk stopped on modern methods of treatment of aplastic anemia, and O. Boyko – on modern approaches to the treatment of MDS.

I.Ilyenko’s information about the possibility of diagnosis of paroxysmal night hemoglobinuria in the conditions of the Department of Clinical Immunology of NRCRM caused an interest of the audience

The last section of the conference was devoted to topical issues and newest possibilities for treatment of hemophilia.

The conference participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers, to chat in the sidelines
